Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, Howell Builders completed many beautiful, graceful homes in the Columbia area. In the early 2000s, the company began to build in the Beaufort and Lowcountry area. Until 2012, when the company moved from Lexington to its current location at 1011 Bay Street in Beaufort, about half of the time was spent with projects in the Columbia area, and half in the Beaufort area.
Beginning work in the building trades right after graduating from high school, Allan Howell spent a few years working on a carpentry crew for a contractor before he established his own firm in 1979. Before long, he saw a need to do custom work. He began to build residential homes with a keener sense of detail and quality in his craft.
